About the photographer
Pet photography Dublin - patience, experience, and a genuine love of animals
I'm Al Shelley, an award-winning photographer Dublin based, with over a decade of experience photographing pets of all shapes, sizes, and temperaments. I hold an Associate distinction from the Irish Photographic Federation (AIPF) and an Artist distinction from the Fédération Internationale de l'Art Photographique (AFIAP).
Working with animals requires patience, good timing, and the ability to find the decisive moment, skills I've developed through years of travel and documentary photography across the world. Your pet won't perform on cue, and that's exactly what makes the best pet photographs so special. I work at your pet's pace, in their environment, until we get the shot that truly captures who they are.
Professional pet photography Dublin doesn't have to be stressful or expensive, I cover Dublin city, Swords, and the wider Fingal area, travel included at no extra cost.
Do you travel to us?
Yes, all pet photography Dublin sessions take place at your home or a location of your choice across Dublin, Swords, and Fingal.
How long does a session take?
Most pet sessions take between 1 and 2 hours depending on your pet's temperament. We never rush, if your dog needs a break or your cat needs time to settle, we work around them.
My pet is nervous around strangers, is that a problem?
Not at all. I spend time at the start of every session letting your pet get comfortable with me before I pick up the camera. Patient, low-key, and always at your pet's pace.
Can I be in the photos too?
Absolutely, owner and pet portraits are some of the most treasured images we produce. Just let me know when you book.
How soon will I receive my photos?
Fully edited images are typically delivered within 3–5 working days of the shoot.
